- Abstract
A literary criticism is provided which explores the fictional depiction of the relationship between the sublime and the use of transportation as a form of punishment in 18th century Great Britain. 18th century British literary works discussed include "Moll Flanders," by Daniel Defoe and "Polly," by John Gay. The portrayal of the aesthetics of transportation in English fiction is discussed.
