- Abstract
The article discusses the materials and artistic styles of Greek sculptor Pheidias. Topics discussed include the popular statues created by Pheidias, the Athena Parthenos in Athens, Greece and the Zeus at Olympia, his artistic skills in bronze, marble, and chryselephantine, and written evidence from geographer Pausanias about his works. Also provided is information regarding the speculation of Pheidias' involvement in the construction of the Parthenon temple as mentioned by historian Plutarch.
