- Abstract
The article presents the authors views that mural paintings do not always provide better iconographic evidence than literary sources. As a case in point, the author discusses his experience of the same for the chinese wind instrument Suona. Topics discussed include easily accessible caves by the general populace, and discussions on the paintings found in Kizil caves which highlights the suona, which was also found in the 4th century, A.D.
