- Abstract
Gigantiform cementoma is a rare form of fibro-cemento-osseous lesion that is usually inherited in an autosomal dominant fashion with variable penetrance; when occurring in families, it is known as familial gigantiform cementoma (FGC). The treatment for these lesions is individualized and ranges from conservative management to radical surgery. Hie literature supports complete removal whenever possible due to the high risk of recurrence. We present a case of a de novo mutation resulting in familial gigantiform cementoma in identical twin sisters that presented to our clinic secondary to massive mandibular and maxillary tumors. These patients have been managed with serial debulking, staged tooth extractions, orthodontics and continued follow-up with conservative management.
