- Abstract
The article discusses regulatory issues related to the entry of international mining companies in Upper Peninsula, Michigan in context of the dispute between Keweenaw Bay Indian Community (KBIC) of Chippewa and Rio Tinto Group over a mine which is owned by Lundin Mining Corp. Topics discussed include history of industrial mining in Michigan and effect of mining on river water in the state. Lundin's environmental monitoring program and economic benefits to the company are discussed.
