THE CHANGING LANDSCAPE OF ARCTIC TRADITIONAL FOOD.
- Authors
Lougheed, Tim
- Abstract
The article discusses the dietary changes of the Cree and Inuit people in Northern Canada. It says lifestyle changes including money-based economy, use of snowmobiles and high powered rifles, and the presence of grocery stores have shifted the diet of the people from their traditional food like seals and whales to the modern convenience of fast food and junk food. It says that the drastic changes in their diet is due to their forced settlement by the Canadian government after World War II.
