- Abstract
The article offers information on the Camera Lucida, an instrument invented by Hyde Wollaston as an aid to artists in drawing with correct perspective. The name was given in reference to the fact that it could be used in ordinary daylight. This instrument consists of a special four-sided prism mounted conveniently on an extensible stand of thin brass tubing, held to the edge of the table by a clamp. Light from the object to be drawn enters the front vertical face of the prism and emerges from the upper horizontal face into the observer's eye.
