Male biological clock possibly linked to autism, other disorders.
- Authors
Schubert, Charlotte
- Abstract
The article reports on the findings of a study concerning the link of male biological clock to the risk of having a child with autism, schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. According to human geneticist Jonathan Sebat, the trend of delaying fatherhood might contribute to an increased incidence of mutations in the population that can give rise to neuropsychiatric disorders. The author adds that spontaneous mutations can arise in both sperm and eggs.
