- Title
How health care systems can begin to address the challenge of limited literacy.
- Authors
Paasche-Orlow, Michael K.; Schillinger, Dean; Greene, Sarah M.; Wagner, Edward H.
- Abstract
The article comments on how the health care system of the U.S. addresses the limited health literacy of adults and most users of the system. The author asserts that the current health care system is inadequate for the public as emphasized by the growing literacy and health literature. The principles introduced focus on promoting productive interactions between patients and health providers. In addition it reorganizes health care delivery in a community level and ecological perspective.
