- Title
COMPARISON OF READABILITY AND DECODABILITY LEVELS ACROSS FIVE FIRST GRADE BASAL PROGRAMS.
- Authors
Maslin, Pamela
- Abstract
The article presents a study comparing the readability and decodability levels of the five first grade basal reading programs. According to the author, basals are designed with the idea that all children in the class will advance through the material at the same pace. He added that the basals alone cannot match all readers and cannot provide adequate skills. He suggests that in choosing a basal reading program it is important to have an idea of teachers' strengths and student needs.
