- Abstract
The article focuses on the legend of King Jinnaluo and the origins of the Shaolin staff fighting. The story evolves with King Jinnaluo, a monk in the Shaolin Monastery during the fall of Yuan Dynasty, who defended the monastery against the rebels destroyingg the place, when he suddenly transformed into a giant with an iron fire stroker for a staff. This scene is considered as the important part of the story to which shaolin staff fighting method and the guardian deities are explored. The author further notes on the studies related to this legend and staff fighting, which include his insights from the "Ma Cha Staff Manual" which reveals the monastery as the place of origin of the figthing techniques.
