- Abstract
The article discusses the effectiveness of activity schedules as a strategy for helping students with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) independently transition from one educational activity to another without disrupting the classroom and other students. Students with ASD, who have problems making these transitions, can be left out of social circles and have problems associated with the amount of activities they complete on a given day. The authors discuss some of the manifestations of ASD and examine how this can impact a student's progress and behavior in the classroom. They explore how activity schedules can help students with ASD anticipate changes in their day.
