The author discusses the developments in Smart Grid activities in the Building Automation and Control Network (BACnet) world. He agrees that the change of the Smart grid interoperability panel to one financed by the industry from a government-funded organization helps in facilitating information for focusing on efforts for a BACnet Smart Grid. Also discussed is the development of a standardized system and equipment definitions for the Smart Grid model.
