- Abstract
The author describes universal interpretations in sentences with definite plural and mass noun phrases with a focus on American Sign Language (ASL) lexical quantifiers. Topics discussed include cross-linguistic variation in structures used for nominal quantification, morphological and lexical means that sign languages employ to encode quantification, and connection between ASL and old French Sign Language.
