- Abstract
This article discusses the risks of prostrate cancer in relation to isoflavones consumed in soy foods by Japanese men. According to research by Norie Kurahashi and others at Japan's National Cancer Center there is a decreased risk in general of localized prostate cancer with increasing consumption of soy foods. However, researchers found in men over 60 consumption of miso soup resulted in increased risk of advanced prostate cancer. For men under 60, consumption of soy foods increased the risk for both advanced and localized prostrate cancer. The research is reported in the March 2207 issue of "Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention."
