Jurassic and Cretaceous Radiolarians from the Ust' Belaya and Algan Mountains, Koryak Highland, Chukotka.

- Abstract
On the basis of research works within the northwestern part of the Koryak Highland, the age of distinguished tectonostratigraphic units was determined. A few new radiolarian assemblages were distinguished in a wide distribution range: Bathonian–Oxfordian, Kimmeridgian–Tithonian–Berriasian (with conditional boundaries within the subdivisions), and Campanian. It was established that siliceous horizons of different stratigraphic levels were formed in various paleoclimatic zones. Kimmeridgian–Tithonian cherts were accumulated in the North Boreal and South Boreal provinces; Tithonian–Berriasian cherts were accumulated in the South Boreal and North Tethyan provinces; Campanian cherts were accumulated in the North Boreal province. Upon the study of tectonostratigraphic units and the subsequent micropaleontological analysis, multiple stages of redeposition, for example, late Aalenian–late Bathonian radiolarians in the Kimmeridgian–Tithonian matrix, and the coexistence of Late Cretaceous (Campanian) and Late Jurassic–Early Cretaceous (Tithonian–Berriasian) radiolarian forms were revealed. The taxonomic diversity and the features of distribution of taxa in the selected radiolarian assemblages are considered. Within the territory of the Koryak Highland, the taxa characterized by bipolar distribution were recognized: representatives of the genus Aitaum in the Bathonian–Oxfordian, representatives of the genus Windalia in the Tithonian–Berriasian, representatives of the genus Prunobrachium in the Campanian. The atlas of Jurassic–Cretaceous radiolarians of Chukotka is presented. The distribution levels of radiolarians in the Bathonian–Berriasian and Campanian in the northwestern part of the Koryak Highlands are outlined. The biostratons recognized in the Koryak Highland are correlated with those from adjacent areas in the Pacific region.
