- Abstract
Current times present particular challenges in raising children, with an acceleration of processes and significant changes in values and customs. Parents, immersed in this context, may face difficulties in providing a safe and stable environment. It is necessary to reflect and seek new conceptual tools to support and strengthen couples and families in this context. The objective of this work is to address the prevalence of emotional disorders in children aged 3 to 5 years, belonging to the middle/middle-low/low social stratum, in the city of Lanús, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, associated with the styles of fostering adopted today. Within the quantitative and qualitative approaches, the technique of the Positive Parenting Scale of Gómez and Muñoz (2014) has been applied to 309 family members from 4 initial level institutions-2 peripheral and two central-and 12 semi-structured interviews with professionals who They work in these establishments. A direct relationship has been observed between the proposed variables and a parenting style tending towards permissiveness, giving rise to dysfunctional families, with a higher incidence of behavioral disorders in children. The results indicate that there was a high request from the participants to bring the instruments to complete them at home, but a low percentage complied with the commitment to return them to the institutions. Greater participation was also observed in peripheral institutions compared to central ones, but it is striking that the level of commitment was low in both areas studied.
