- Abstract
This editorial from the International Journal of Maritime History highlights the content of the current issue. It begins by acknowledging Leos Müller for organizing a forum on maritime heritage and modern national identities in Scandinavia. The forum explores the relationship between the maritime past and present society in Denmark, Finland, and Sweden. The issue also features research articles on the role of women in Trieste's fisheries, the negotiations preceding the Montreux Convention between Russia and Ukraine, and the whaling trade in Georgian Liverpool. Additionally, the editorial pays tribute to the late Michael N. Pearson, a respected maritime historian. The editorial concludes by providing updates on the upcoming 9th International Maritime History Association Congress and the bidding process for organizing the IMHA Congress in 2028.
