THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST LIGHT METALS INDUSTRY.
- Authors
Engle, Nathanael H.
- Abstract
The article discusses the U.S.' Pacific Northwest Light Metal Industry during World War II. The number of war orders are disproportionately large for this industry which has remained essentially unchanged. War expansion has focused on areas in Seattle, Washington, Portland, Oregon, and Spokane, Washington. The Pacific Northwest is producing twice the aluminum than the nation's pre-War average output. The regions' magnesium capacity is 100 times the 1935-1939 average. Experts speculate that it will require several years for the wide acceptance of magnesium among light metal consumers.
