- Abstract
This article discusses the life and subsequent sainthood of Sor María de Ágreda in 17th century Spain. The author comments on the historical importance of Sor María in the community of Ágreda and describes her saintly role in the mediation of family relations and conflicts. She also considers the role of women in the region at the time. The veneration of female saints, the religiosity of the Spanish population, and the everyday lives of the Spanish people at the time are also examined.
