- Title
Pulmonary Papillary Adenocarcinoma in an adult cow.
- Authors
Barley, J. P.
- Abstract
An adult Friesian cow was submitted for slaughter and during a routine meat inspection, a number of firm, orange or yellow coloured nodular lesions were seen to be diffusely spread through the lung parenchyma. Samples of the lesion were sent for further examination as part of the National EBL (enzootic bovine leucosis) Surveillance Programme. Histology showed the presence of a papillary adenocarcinoma with an extensive connective tissue stroma. Primary pulmonary neoplasia is rare in cattle and most neoplasms reported have been identified as adenocarcinoma. These tumours must be differentiated from metastatic uterine adenocarcinoma, or other metastatic epithelial neoplasms.
