- Title
Retributivism, Agency, and the Voluntary Act Requirement.
- Authors
Taggart, Christopher P.
- Abstract
The article discusses the relationship between retributivism and America's criminal law-related Voluntary Act Requirement (VAR), and it mentions how the U.S. criminal legal system mandates that a person act voluntarily before legal punishment is imposed. Criminal liability in America is addressed, along with the concept of agent causalism which deals with the ways that criminal defendants and human beings voluntarily act. The American Law Institute's Mode Penal Code is examined.
