Trichoscopic features of various types of alopecia areata in India: application of a hand-held dermoscope.

- Abstract
The article presents a study on alopecia areata patterns diagnosed in an Indian population through the use of trichoscopy. The study uses dermoscopic examination of alopecia patches which were classified according to its types including diffuse, totalis and ophiasis. Results show that none of the patients have atopy but eight patients have a family history of alopecia areata. It adds that trichoscopic findings show black dots, broken hair and vellus hair.
