- Abstract
The article talks about the naming practices of many Victorian women writers including George Eliot and Elizabeth Gaskell in publishing their works of literature and how these naming practices have been received by Victorian periodical reviewers. Topics discussed include male pseudonyms for women writers being perceived in the 1970s and early 1980s as a marker for the repressive psychology of women writers.
