- Abstract
The article focuses on the conservation of the critically endangered Hainan gibbon Nomascus hainanus, the rarest ape and mammal species, at Bawangling National Nature Reserve in Hainan, China. Topics include the decline of the species during the 20th century due to hunting and habitat loss, the development of a Conservation Action Plan since 2005, and the conservation planning workshop held in Bo'ao, Hainan from March 18-20, 2014 to promote conservation of the Hainan gibbon.
