- Abstract
This paper presents the development of a short scale of the questionnaire "Learning Strategies of University Students" (LIST; Wild & Schiefele, 1994). After the reduction, the LIST-K is a scale of 13 subscales with all together 39 items. It differentiates between cognitive and metacognitive strategies, and strategies for managing internal and external resources. In a total of three studies, the factor structure and the reliability of the LIST-K were examined. The psychometric properties of the LIST-K are stable throughout the studies. The hints from confirmatory factor analyses support the interpretation of the scale values at subscale level. The reliabilities of the subscales are acceptable to very good. Thus, the short scale is at least as reliable as the original version without having changed the dimensionality of the scale. The LIST-K is an instrument for assessing learning strategies, for example, in complex multi-topic surveys.
