- Abstract
Although there is no macrocracking in laser-arc hybrid welded Al-6Cu alloys, microstructure and fracture analysis showed the microcracks, which decreased in tensile strength. An appropriate model considering the welding parameters and the microstructures was developed to predict the cracking susceptibility. The model indicated that the longer liquid channel along the grain boundary at improper parameters results in microcracks. Finally, crack-free welds with optimized parameters were made.
