- Abstract
This study presents the Greenhouse Gas Inventory (GHGI) prepared for the Guaratuba Municipal Environment Secretariat (GMES), located in the state of Paraná, for the 2021 financial year. The scope covered by the GHGI is in line with the categories recommended by the Brazilian Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol), covering: scope 1, which encompasses the measurement of emissions resulting from mobile combustion, through the consideration of information pertaining to the fleet of vehicles used for GMES purposes; scope 2, which quantifies emissions linked to electricity consumption; and scope 3, which includes the assessment of emissions resulting from GMES employees traveling from their homes to the workplace, as well as the emission of solid waste by them during working hours. The amounts of carbon dioxide equivalent (T CO2e) resulting from these assessments for the year in question are as follows: 29.44 T CO2e for Scope 1, 1.14 T CO2e for Scope 2 and 12.99 T CO2e for Scope 3, totaling 43.572 T CO2e. In order to neutralize greenhouse gas emissions by 2021, it is necessary to plant 76 species of slow-growing trees, 31 medium-growing species or 9 fastgrowing species.
