- Title
THE ELECTRONIC HANDWRITTEN SIGNATURE (DIGITALLY CAPTURED SIGNATURE – DCS) AS AN EQUIVALENT COUNTERPART TO THE TRADITIONAL PEN & PAPER SIGNATURE.
- Authors
KALANTZIS, Nikolaos
- Abstract
Within the European Union and abroad, the DCS has already been deployed in large numbers in both the government and the civil industry, coupling or completely replacing the traditional pen & paper signature. The vast adaptation of this new technology inevitably leads to the necessity of its forensic (and legal) approach, to secure its role as a “signature”, i.e. as a means of determining authenticity. This presentation will discuss the forensic suitability of the DCS, it will introduce instances of legalization of such deployments and finally will discuss the necessary requirements of a DCS deployment as all electronic handwritten signatures are not created equal.
