- Abstract
The main subject of this article is composed of the populations books (NFS. d.) numbered 1003 registered of Muslim, nomadic, guest and non- Muslim populations in the districts of Kesderesi, Serkeş and Meydan subject to Fatsa and Fatsa subject to Canik Sanjak and it is also composed of the populations books numbered 1006 (the population that reappears in the districts subject to Fatsa and Fatsa), where the surplus population reappears in these districts, and the populations books numbered 982 registered of non-Muslim population. These books, which continue with additions starting from the records of 1834, includes statistics up to 1844/45. Many features such as the administrative structure of the region, the names of the settlements, the names and nicknames of the individuals, the number and military service status of the male population, taxpayers, dates of birth and death, population movements can be learned through these books. Accordingly, in the first half of the 19th century, it was determined that the number of non-Muslim male population in Fatsa District was 356 and their average age was around 20-57, the average population per household was 3.30 (6.60 when women are included). In addition, it is seen that non-Muslims in Fatsa District have elementary family structure and the majority of the population is middle-class and poor.
