- Abstract
In the present investigation the antimicrobial potential of different Soxhlet fractions of Gloriosa superba L. was tested against urinogenital tract infection causing isolates, urinogenital infections are bacterial infection that affects whole urinary tract. This isolated microorganisms attach to bladder wall, produces biofilms that shows resistance to antibiotics. In present study, the Soxhlet extracts of Gloriosa superba L. was tested against E.coli, S. aureus, P. aeroginosa, Chlamydia spp.and Candida spp., isolated from Urinary tract infections, ampicillin was taken as standard that shows poor zone of inhibition. In result section chloroform and methanol extract shows moderate and effective activity respectively, where as all isolated pathogens are resistance to n-hexane and aqueous fractions. This result confirms Ethanomedicinal use of Gloriosa superba L. in treatment of urinary tract infection and suggested that plant extract might also be used in various types of infectious disease.
