- Abstract
The article reports on the initiative of the American Psychiatric Association (APA) to prevent the overuse of antipsychotic drugs in the U.S. The move by APA emphasizes the attempts of the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) to eliminate unnecessary medical interventions and testing. APA announced interventions that need to avoid about antipsychotic drugs during the ABIM's Choosing Wisely campaign. Factors that contributed to the increase in antipsychotic drug prescribing are cited.
