- Abstract
In growing rats, slowly-turning-over cells were labelled by application of 3H-TdR for 1-6 Four weeks after the last 3H-TdR injection, all short-living cells had lost their label, while long-living small Spleen lymphocytes lymphocytes and cells of Immune responsesthe bone marrow and the spleen had retained it. After Lymphocytesprimary and secondary exposure to antigens (human aγ-globulin plus complete Freund's adjuvant), labeling of bonemarrow lymphocytes remained stable, where- as the labelling index of spleen lymphocytes markedly decreased. It is, therefore, concluded that at least the majority of long-living small lymphocytes in the bone marrow, in contrast to long-living small lymphocytes of the spleen, do not participate in a primary and secondary immune reaction against these antigens.
