- Abstract
The article analyzes the design methods of English architect Sir Edwin Landseer Lutyens. It examines the background, work and personality of Lutyens to assess circumstantial evidence and potential motives for his use of such design methods. The war memorial in Victoria Park in Leicester known as Arch of Remembrance is used in the analysis. The legacy of John Pell and Sir Christopher Wren are mentioned. It concludes that Lutyens was predisposed towards the use of analytical design method and was aware and employed Pell's series in dimensioning.
