- Title
WOMEN CONFINED BY PRISON BARS AND MALE IMAGES.
- Authors
Cain, Heidi Lee
- Abstract
The article explores the impact of the inception of public punishment on the treatment received by women whether they are in prison or not. The author explains that prisons have been built to provide both punishment and the time to reform for criminals. She claims that the ideal of a domestic and maternal female remains among men whether females are in the law, courts and prisons. She adds that the ideal has made the commodification and re-engendering of the criminal female to become acceptable.
