- Abstract
The use of fresh frozen plasma (FFP) has the intent to treat coagulophaties and proteins deficiencies. Studies evaluating the storage quality of FFP on veterinary are in a small number, besides the evolution in hemotherapy. To evaluate the viability of FFP bags activated partial thromboplastine time, prothrombine time, whole protein and albumin were determined on storage bags in five different periods: until 3 months; 3-6 months; 6-9 months; 9-12 months; 12-15 months, freeze below -20°C. There were no differences in relation to the storage time, suggesting that the validity of 12 months is in accordance with its viability, and can be used with security. Never the less, more studies evaluating labels coagulation factor, as factor VIII, should be done evaluating label blood factors as factor VIII.
