- Abstract
This document is a special issue of the journal Classica: Revista Brasileira de Estudos Clássicos, focusing on conflict resolution and classical literature. The issue is the result of a research grant that allowed for workshops and presentations on conflict resolution through classical literature in Colombia, Brazil, and the United Kingdom. The goal of the research is to explore how classical literature can contribute to conflict resolution and peacebuilding education in Brazil and Colombia. The document also provides an overview of different strategies for conflict resolution, such as avoiding, accommodating, compromising, competing, collaborating, appealing, and commanding. The papers in the special issue discuss topics such as the concept of just war, the use of sports and athletics in peacebuilding, the role of tears in resolving conflicts in the Iliad, and the role of clemency in the Late Roman Republic and Early Principate.
