- Title
Evaluation of Circulating Tumor Cell Analysis for Prostate Cancer Diagnosis.
- Authors
Billings, Jill A.
- Abstract
The current standard of care to diagnose prostate cancer is the prostate-specific antigen test followed by a confirmatory biopsy, which has resulted in a high rate of false positives. Looking at the circulating tumor cell analysis could possibly negate the need for invasive testing and can provide a molecular snapshot of cancer. Prostate cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer death in the United States; therefore, it warrants a review of our standard practice in relation to diagnostic testing.
