- Abstract
Administration of different doses of Cloprostenol sodium and Dinoprost tromethamine by intramuscular (IM) and Intra- vulvo submucosal (IVSM) route resulted in significant reduction in serum progesterone concentration reaching less than normal basal levels by 72 hours in responded cows. In non responded cows, the mean serum progesterone concentration showed similar trend but did not decrease to basal level by 72 hours. Based on the results of present investigation, it is suggested that Cloprostenol sodium at the dose of 250pg by IM route and 125pg by IVSM route and Dinoprost tromethamine at the dose rate of 12.5mg by IM route and 6.25mg by IVSM can effectively cause leuteolysis and the luteolytic effect of lower doses of Cloprostenol sodium and Dinoprost tromethamine was also confirmed by reducing serum progesterone.
