- Abstract
The article discusses the gold mining rush in Nome, Alaska, during the late 19th century and early 20th century, and incidents of receivership fraud. The article discusses North Dakota political operative Alexander McKenzie's efforts to exploit alien mining claims, particularly the formation of the syndicate known as the Alaska Gold Mining Company, and the appointment of Minnesota attorney Arthur N. Noyes to a judgeship that included Nome in its jurisdiction.
