- Abstract
The article presents a history of the financial aspects of the fast food restaurant chain McDonald's. The article details the establishment of the first McDonald's by brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald and their innovations regarding self-service and assembly line food production in restaurants. Investment in the McDonald's chain by salesman Ray Kroc, and his ideas regarding its potential use as a franchise establishment, are highlighted. Financial aspects related to the history of McDonald's are discussed including franchise fees, the real estate company Franchise Realty Corporation, and the buy out of the company by Kroc.
