- Title
PRODUCTION AND TERMINOLOGY OF FLAKES.
- Authors
Renaud, E. B.
- Abstract
The article presents information on the terminology used for stone flakes found at archaeological sites, as well as an overview of some of the broad categories into which they fall, and the various means by which they were often produced. Some of the earliest and most primitive flaked stone tools are said to be difficult to distinguish from the types of stone flakes produced by natural forces. Developments in stone age technology are classified in terms such as the Teshoa flakes of the Pebble industry, and the Clactonian and Levalloisian flakes of the core industry.
