The article discusses the time spent by Benjamin Davidson, agent of investment banking firm N.M. Rothschild & Sons in San Francisco, California from 1849-1852. It mentions the letters written by him for a pair of Gold Scales along with high prices of gold in San Francisco, purchase of a house by him and production of gold that led to the development of San Francisco. It adds growing prejudice against Indians, Mexicans, and South Americans.
