- Abstract
The article focuses on the history and perceptions of the Casa Grande ruin, located along the Gila River in Arizona. Casa Grande Ruin Reservation was the first national and archaeological site formally established in the U.S. when created on June 22, 1892. The article looks the romantic and poetic depictions of the ruin throughout history, particularly in relation to the Mexican-American War and the creation of Arizona Territory.
