- Abstract
The article presents a study which examined Plasmodium mexicanum infection of the western fence lizard Sceloporus occidentalis at the Hopland Research and Extension Center (HREC) in Mendocino County, California between June and August 2012. The variables considered include white blood cell (WBC) identification and concentration for infected reptilian hosts, paracitemia correlated with WBC counts, and WBC densities. The calculation of Plasmodium mexicanum parasitemia and ectoparasite is offered.
