- Title
Johannes Neuer ist Direktor der Deutschen Nationalbibliothek in Leipzig.
- Abstract
Johannes Neuer took over as the director of the German National Library in Leipzig on August 1, 2023. He succeeds Michael Fernau, who had been in office since 2008 and has retired. His main responsibilities include managing the Leipzig branch of the German National Library and overseeing the construction activities for the 5th expansion building in Leipzig. Johannes Neuer is also one of the permanent representatives of the General Director of the German National Library, Frank Scholze. Prior to his work in Leipzig, he was employed at the New York Public Library. A new study by ZBW - Leibniz Information Center for Economics shows that game design elements such as feedback, progress bars, badges, and narratives have a motivating effect in quiz environments. The combination of badges and feedback proved to be particularly effective. The narrative element also had a significant motivating effect. The study provides valuable insights for the development of motivating learning and training environments. Companies and organizations can use these findings to make their learning and training environments more motivating. The TIB (Technical Information Library) has launched five new open access projects. The IDAHO project examines barriers to open access publishing for specific groups of researchers. The KOALA-AV project is dedicated to the establishment and expansion of consortium-based open access solutions. The KOMET project aims to improve the metadata processes of open access journals. The Mehr-OA project develops methods for efficient machine-assisted reuse of open access published research results. The PANTER project aims to create a comparison portal for financing models, prices, and price developments in the open access journal market. The Badische State Library has cataloged the estate of Friedrich Lautenschlager and made some of the most important documents available digitally. The Bavarian State Library has acquired the famous artwork "The Great Wave" by Katsushika Hokusai and is planning an exhibition on Japanese woodblock prints. The Duchess Anna Amalia Library is launching the "Future Memory" project on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the fire and is calling on eyewitnesses to share their memories and expectations with the library. Video interviews are planned to document the personal relationship of citizens with the library.
