- Abstract
The article focuses on the Eastern media influences to the film industry in Nigeria. According to the author, Hausa films which was literally born in 1990 in Kano, Nigeria is currently influenced by several factors including fashion, religion and concepts from various countries particularly the U.S. and other Asian countries. The media is greatly influenced by globalization and commercialism, to the extent that it detrimentally affects the country's motion picture industry. Moreover, the author believes that what is of further significance is the way media is used to construct identities and share these constructs with communities sharing these identities.
