Comments on Foucher's flap.
- Authors
Kamath, B. Jagannath
- Abstract
In this article, the author offers insights on the article on the use of Foucher's flap for the reconstruction of thumb pulp and dorsum defects. He mentions that the said first dorsal metacarpal artery (FDMA) flap can also be requisitioned to resurface defects of thumb without shortening. He stresses the need of split or full-thickness skin graft for donor-defect following the FDMA flap. He contends that performing the FDMA flap may be risky without loop magnification and proper tourniquet.
