- Abstract
The article informs that several methods have been considered for preparation of polymer-layered silicate nanocomposites, such as in situ intercalative polymerization, melt intercalation and solution intercalation. No matter which method, the environment between the interlayers of montmorillonite (MMT) is a key factor for intercalation. The MMT has to be organically modified before usage, and the length of alkyl chains is a decisive factor for intercalation or the extent of intercalation. The gelatin, MMT and the method of preparation of gelatin/MMT nanocomposite were identical to those mentioned in the former experiments.
