- Title
Misstated Identity in Gaskell's ‘The Old Nurse's Story’.
- Authors
Voller, Jack G.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the error of identity in the short story "The Old Nurse's Story," by Elizabeth Gaskell. Its inclusion in such collections as "Norton Antology of English Literature" and the "Broadview Anthology of British Literature" is credited for the possible emergence of the story as the primary work by Gaskell. The lineage and generational relationship were said to be the focus of the error. The misstatement is attributed to the family responsibilities of Gaskell while writing.
